On 2 February 2026, the Public Prosecution held its annual conference under the theme “Sense of Procedural Fairness.” The conference reviewed key indicators and statistics related to cases handled by the institution, highlighted notable cases, and examined relevant judicial decisions and rulings. The event also presented data on the number of offenders, the status of judgments, and the most commonly committed crimes. The conference reflects the Public Prosecution’s commitment to enhancing community service, promoting the rule of law, and strengthening transparency through performance indicators, in alignment with Oman Vision 2040.

On 4 February 2025, Public Prosecution held its annual conference under the theme: Sense of Procedural Fairness. The conference reviewed key indicators and statistics related to cases handled by the institution, highlighted notable cases, and examined relevant judicial decisions and orders. The event also emphasized the integration of modern technology in prosecutorial activities and showcased awareness-raising campaigns launched by OPP. The conference was attended by representatives from media agencies and other partner organizations collaborating with OPP.

A delegation from the Public Prosecution, headed by His Excellency the Attorney General, participated in the Fourth Meeting of the Arab Association for Prosecutors, held from 18–19 December 2024 in NEOM, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. On the sidelines of the meeting, a workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence and Criminal Justice – The Evidentiary Value of Investigative Procedures” was convened. The workshop featured panel discussions addressing the nature of artificial intelligence, its objectives and applications, as well as the impact of AI and digital transformation on enhancing the efficiency and timeliness of criminal justice. It also examined the evidentiary value of AI in investigative procedures. During the workshop, participating delegations presented their respective national experiences in the application of artificial intelligence. The Public Prosecution of the Sultanate of Oman showcased its achievements in leveraging artificial intelligence in criminal investigations. This included a presentation on the AI-powered “Virtual Crime Scene,” which supports investigators in collecting and analyzing evidence from crime scenes, facilitating evidence correlation and enhancing investigative accuracy. The presentation also highlighted additional AI-driven applications, including a case file analysis system capable of identifying evidentiary gaps, detecting inconsistencies, and recommending optimal legal actions. These tools further support the transcription and translation of testimonies, contributing to improved efficiency and reduced time and effort in investigative processes.

Public Prosecution of the Sultanate of Oman participated in the 16th GCC Meeting for the Attorneys General held in Qatar on 29 October 2024. The Omani delegation was headed by His Excellency, Nasr Khamis Al Sawaii, the Attorney General and included Dr. Ahmed Al-Shekaili, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Badi, Assistant Attorneys General, Mr. Saif Al-Hinai, Senior Public Prosecutor, and Mr. Saif Al-Mamari. The meeting addressed topics of common interest, including reviewing the rules for joint cooperation between GCC prosecution agencies, and the mechanism for promoting mutual legal assistance. The participants highlighted the experience of their countries in various legal field. The Public Prosecution of the Sultanate of Oman highlighted the case central distribution system. At the end of the meeting, an awarding ceremony was held in which Dr. Mahmoud Al-Badi, the Assistant Attorney General received an award of excellence.

The International Association of Prosecutors invited Public Prosecution of the Sultanate of Oman to take part in the 29th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors, which was held in Baku. The invitation came from Kamran Aliyev, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The event discussed several issues on establishing flexible prosecution agencies, the applications of artificial intelligence in prosecutorial tasks, combating cybercrimes, the role of prosecutors in upholding the rule of law in the digital age, and tackling corruption. The conference will also include bilateral meetings with international counterparts to strengthen relations and build bridges of communication to promote joint cooperation in criminal investigations. The visits program included meetings between the Attorney General and the accompanying delegation with the Prosecutors General of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey to explore ways of strengthening international judicial cooperation in the field of criminal justice and exchange their experiences to develop their performance and build their capacities. A consultative meeting was also held with the Executive Director of the International Association of Prosecutors.

Public Prosecution participated in the 15th GCC Online Session for their Excellencies Assistant Attorneys General and Prosecutors General on 2 September 2024. The session reviewed mechanisms for strengthening cooperation in requests for legal assistance to expedite their implementation and for developing mechanisms and controls for holding interactive seminars. The meeting also reviewed practical experiences provided by prosecuting authorities in preparation for the 16th GCC Session for their Excellencies Attorneys General and Prosecutors General. In the meeting, the Sultanate of Oman’s delegation was headed by Assistant Attorney General Dr. Ahmed bin Said Al-Shakili.

His Excellency the Attorney General participated in the preparatory meeting of the Executive Committee of the Arab Association for Prosecutors, held on 16–17 July 2024 in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
