

His Excellency Nasr Khamis Al Sawaii, Attorney General of the Sultanate of Oman, met with His Excellency Stefan Blättler, Attorney General of Switzerland, in Bern on Thursday, April 30, 2026. The meeting was attended by the accompanying delegation. The two sides discussed a number of matters of mutual interest in judicial and legal affairs, including developments in transnational organized crime and effective methods for combating such crimes and gathering evidence. A joint statement was issued following the meeting, emphasizing the importance of strengthening international cooperation to combat crime—particularly emerging and transnational crimes. The statement also highlighted the value of exchanging expertise, successful experiences, and best practices between the two countries in a manner that supports judicial systems and promotes the swift administration of justice. The program also included a visit to the Supreme Court, where the delegation was briefed on its departments, jurisdictions, and judicial processes. In addition, the delegation was introduced to the role of the Money Laundering Reporting Office Switzerland and its best practices in combating money laundering and terrorist financing. The visit comes to bolster ties of cooperation between the Omani Public Prosecution (OPP) and the Office of Attorney General of Switzerland in the field of criminal investigations especially against transnational crimes.
